Register a new account on giffgaff.com → click activate → enter the 6-character activation code on the physical SIM → choose pay as you go no monthly plan at the bottom of the page → top up with Visa/Mastercard → activated → you get a random phone number → put the SIM in your phone and use it;
Put simply, once you have the giffgaff SIM, log in to the giffgaff website and top up £10: that is activation done. The minimum top-up is £10.
After activation you get a random UK number and can put the SIM in your phone and use it. Then set a reminder to keep the number alive every 6 months.
