Giffgaff common functions (a must-read for newcomers)

📱 Short codes on your phone

Find your own number: text NUMBER to 43430
Check your credit: dial *100# on the dial pad
Turn on voicemail: dial **61*443*10*20# on the dial pad
Default SIM PIN: 5555

🎙️ About turning off voicemail

The usual code to turn it off, ##002#, may not work in mainland China at present.
If you do not mind, you can simply leave it on. The author has used the SIM for 4-5 years with the default setting and has never been charged for a voicemail message. If you really want to turn it off, try dialling the code after turning on WiFi Calling, or contact a human agent to turn it off completely on their side.

Steps to ask official support to turn off voicemail:

Log in to your account on the Giffgaff website.
In the menu, find Help —> choose Ask for a giffgaff agent.
Choose Account misuse and security issues.
Choose Other.
Enter the following request in English in the message box (click the top right corner to copy):

I am unable to disable my voicemail at the moment. I have tried multiple times. Please assist me in disabling it. Thank you!

6. Click Ask a question (the yellow button) to submit! Support usually replies by email within 24 hours to tell you the result.

🔄 Changing your phone number for free

If a service says the phone number is already in use when you sign up, or the verification code just will not arrive, you can ask to change your phone number for free (each account usually gets two free changes).

How:
Open the official Giffgaff app —> tap Account in the bottom navigation bar —> Personal details —> scroll to the bottom and tap Get a new giffgaff number.
